About MWPHA
What is MWPHA?
The Metropolitan Washington Public Health Association (MWPHA) is a dynamic professional organization committed to advocating for public health interests in the metropolitan Washington area. We are a non-profit (501c3) organization affiliated with the American Public Health Association (APHA)
Who Are Our Members?
We are health professionals, advocates, students and community members dedicated to improving the health of residents of the District of Columbia and surrounding areas of Virginia and Maryland. Interested members of the general public are encouraged to join and help advocate for healthier communities.
When Do We Meet?
Members are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings of the Governing Council, the MWPHA leadership group, to discuss policy and plan activities. Each spring, we sponsor an annual meeting on a topic of interest to our members. Continuing education events are also offered throughout the year featuring prominent area health leaders.
Our fall social event allows time to join in a cordial atmosphere with colleagues for good discussion and networking. The Governing Council meets the third Wednesday of each month except in July and August at the DC Department of Health, 825 N. Capitol St.,
at 6:45PM. Call 202/466-7556 to confirm the time and place.
